Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we get about TLC's commercial and condo grounds care services and snow and ice removal.
We'll perform grounds care weekly from May to mid-October, once in April, and every 10 days for fall clean-ups. In the winter we’ll be onsite when we receive 4 cm of snow or more, or freezing rain.
We fertilize in May, June, September, and late October/November, or as otherwise indicated in your contract.

We have two dedicated teams that manage the ice on your properties: our walkway teams and roadway salt teams. We use salt because it is an effective, clean, and economical material to keep your property safe. We apply salt to all shared roadways and walkways. We also offer the optional contracted service of salting all driveways. We apply salt before and during snow and freezing rain events to prevent ice build-up and hard-packed snow on the roads, and we apply salt after snow events to manage slippery conditions such as residual snow, ice, and water.
A lot of planning and coordination goes into preparing our teams for snowfall. We check the weather throughout the day and we are in constant communication with our teams to ensure they’re ready to go ahead of time. Once winter weather begins, our plow teams first focus on opening roadways, our shovel teams clear sidewalks and box out driveways, and we apply salt where necessary. Next, our plow teams and driveway tractors attend to sites to clear driveways and vacant parking spots. Once the roadways are clear, our roadway salt teams visit sites to apply salt.
We develop snow maps for each property that outline where our teams can and cannot pile snow during a normal snow event.
Many of our contracts allow for relocating snow onsite, using a large loader or a larger snow blower, to keep visitor parking and other snow accumulation areas open for the next big event. On average, this service is required three to four times during the winter.
We are always hiring hardworking, energetic people at TLC. If you like to work outside and get things done, visit our Careers page to learn more.
