News & Tips From TLC Landscaping

Our Landscape Design Process

At TLC Landscaping, we believe in helping people create the home of their dreams. We take your vision and turn it into a beautiful, comfortable outdoor space that you and your family can enjoy for years to come.

Using our tried and tested landscape design process, we’re able to take your desires, wants and needs and create your dream space in your backyard or front yard.

Step 1: Meet With Our Landscape Designers

Before we do anything else, we’ll come to your house for an initial meeting. We’ll do a site analysis, including taking measurements, pictures and completing a sun analysis. We’ll ask you a number of questions, so we have a detailed idea of what you want to see in your landscape design, by understanding how you are going to use this space, what elements are the most important to you and the style that suits you.

Step 2: Creating the Plan

After our landscape designer has met with you at your home, they’ll take seven to ten business days to create your landscape plan, larger projects can take a little longer for initial design, along with seasonality. With larger projects with lots of pieces involved, this is sometimes just the first of two to three plans that we draw up, so we’re sure that you’re satisfied with the final plan. Your plan can include a number of features, like:

  • Outdoor kitchens & bars
  • Landscape lighting
  • Outdoor structures
  • Outdoor entertainment areas such as patios and pavilions
  • Retaining walls
  • Spas & swimming pools
  • Walkways and driveways
  • Children’s play areas

Step 3: Making the Final Selections

Once you’re happy with the layout of your landscape design, we’ll work with you to finalize the details. We’ll ask you more detail-oriented question, such as:

  • What plants will go where?
  • What type of stone will we use to create your patio or water features?
  • What type of aggregates and mulches would you like in each area?
  • What colours and type of plants do you love and want to include?

These final details will bring the whole plan to life.

Step 4: Commitment & Work Begins

Once we have finalized your landscape plan with all the details, it’s up to you to make the commitment to the plan. Once we have your approval, we’ll start bringing the plan to life and our landscapers will begin the physical work of the landscaping process.
